In honor of my one year writing anniversary I'm giving away two awesome YA books to one lucky winner who will get to choose from the list below for themselves and their local library. Of course I'll need proof that you donated it and didn't keep it for yourself, because trust me they are great titles. Don't worry at least you know you'll be able to take it out from the library.
Here's the scoop. I was inspired to write after reading some pretty amazing YA fantasy books so what better way to celebrate than by making sure more fabulous books get out there to inspire would be writers via your local library?
I did my best to make this easy to win while providing some form of inspiring feedback from those of you who enter. You'll have up to four chances to enter to win.

Now here's the good stuff! The winner will be able to choose two of the great new(ish) titles below. They are all Young Adult Fantasy simply because that's my favorite thing to read and a section in most libraries that could really benefit from an extra new release.

OK I'm following.
And as far books that have inspired me, I'll got with a recent one I loved. Jellico Road by Melina Marchetta is one of my favorite books recently. I thought it was edge-of-your-seat enthralling as well as a great story about love, forgiveness and finding who your are both because of *and* in spite of other's influence on your life. It's realistic YA fiction, but she has a YA fantasy book (Finnikin of the Rock) coming out in the U.S. in early 2010, so watch for it!

It's hard to narrow down the books that have influenced me since I'm a pretty voracious reader. I'll go with the Harry Potter books because they are something I've seen my boys get into and it's been fun to share those with them. They've definitely helped me show my kids the joys of reading while allowing us to spend some time bonding over the stories.

While many writers have inspired me over the years, from Anne McCaffrey to Anne Rice, one of the most inspired authors I've read recently is Scott Westerfeld. I still find myself thinking of the Uglies series months after I've read them!
Suzanne Collins inspired me to write in present tense, so I guess she is one of my current favorites.
Great contest. I recently read the hunger games Excellent!! Can't wait for Catching Fire! Also trying to get a hold of Shiver and Lament. And of course hopelessly addicted to the Twilight Series!

The most inspiring books thatI've read in YA were John Green's novels, Libba Bray's Gemma Doyle triology, and Markus Zusak's books. Oh, and I loved Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. (I was able to borrow a friend's ARC of Catching Fire and YEAH!)
I love YA fiction.
The books that inspire me most are those of Diana Wynne Jones - her Howl's Moving Castle has been my favorite book since I was eight. Also, in what I suppose you could consider inspiration, Robin Cook's book Toxin turned me vegetarian when I was fifteen, and I've never looked back.
For what it's worth, I've bookmarked you! That's how I follow blogs.

+1 One book that majorly inspired me was TH1RTEEN R3ASONS WHY by Jay Asher. It's truly changed my life to make me in to a better person. I see people differently and pay more attention to their actions, being kind to the ones who don't get a lot of it. I think this is the most memorable book I've ever read.

Okay books that have inspired me. Melissa Marr got me to realize just how good YA was again. I'd wandered away sometime after college. Plus I don't think they had good YA fantasy back when I was in high school or college.
I also like books that make me happy like those by Sarah Dessen.
So those aren't specific books, but they are authors with more than one book that did that.
