Reply comment survey

I've got a question for you. Yes, you. All of you.

When you leave a comment on someones blog do you return to see if anyone (including the blog's author) have commented in reply?

You can probably guess where I'm going with this. Since I have no set schedule for posting and I tend to forget to come back and reply to comments, I'm hoping to do a little research to see if I should be making a point of coming back in here to reply. Call it research.

Also, those of you that have their reply comments emailed to your commenters, how they heck do you do that? Personally I like that. Anyone have thoughts on that too?

Chalk it up to the whole new year, new leaf thing, but I'm determined to whip this blog into shape. I want a new look, a new schedule and maybe a new commenting system. And I promise not to have super boring posts like this too often.

Thanks for your help. Have a great weekend!

I'm really bad about going back and checking for replies to my comments on others' blogs. You can hit "subscribe to comments" at the bottom of the comment form to have responses emailed to you (from another blog)

As for your blog, comments being emailed to you is in the settings section of your blogger account.
:0) Have fun!!

Thanks Kristi! I actually have that option set up so I get all comments sent to my email, but it seems like there are some who have it setup so they can reply to comments and its sent as an email to the commenter. It happens with blogs I didn't click to have them sent either. Or maybe I'm crazy! lol But it seems like a great option.

Good to know I'm not the only one who goes back to check. Hmmm, though that means you won't even read this reply...

I go back and check on comments I've made to see if there's a response. Probably more than half the bloggers I follow respond to comments and it's fun to see what they say. I like to respond to comments on my blog to. I have no idea how people e-mail you back directly from your comment but it's cool. I think that might be a challenge to keep up on, though, depending on how many comments you normally get.

I try to go onto my blog to reply to comments as I'm available throughout the day. I have had a couple people come back and we've had some good convo.

Anywho, as for replying to comments via an email, it only works if the person making the comment has their profile setup so their email address shows up in the "from" field when their comment is emailed to you. Sometimes you just have a no-reply email addy. You can just check the details. Hope that helps!

I check my blog like it's crack. But the ones I comment on... not so much. Only if I ask a question, do I go back and see if they've replied.

I do reply to the comments that come into my inbox, almost every day. It's easy. Hit reply. If it's a real email address (not "no reply @ blogger") it'll go right to them. Easy, peasy.

I used to go back and check to see if anyone responded to my comment, but I don't have time for that now, unless I ask a specific question.

As for the email thing. There is an option under settings to select that comments be emailed to you. If the commenter has an email listed on their blog, you can reply to that comment right then. I love doing it that way. I feel like I've developed deep relationships this way.

Love all the feedback. Now I'm super curious to see who returns to see if there comments have been responded to. ; )

Thanks for the tip. Elana, I totally never thought to do that!I smacked myself on the forehead on that one. Reply. Duh.

i do the reply to email thing. most people who post comments don't click "email follow-up comments," so it's usually a waste to do a follow-up comment on your post. at least that's what i've found, anyway.
